The history of physiotherapy dates back to about 3000 BC from China, India and Greece. Physical therapies were made using natural remedies such as hot and cold water, massage and pain relieving movements.

Hippocrates the father of medicine, was one of the first to talk about physiotherapy as a way of prevention and healing, he was the man who wanted medical thought, patient observation and methodology in his treatment .

In Ancient Greece they spoke of measure and temperament that would prevent many diseases, as in the case today. Beyond that, it was thought that many diseases were cured with massage and gymnastics. Then the bases of physiotherapy were laid.

During ancient tradition, nature alone treated the disease. The doctor was an attendant of the illness and an observer on the road to healing. The drugs were considered health-related and covered only the symptoms and not the disease itself.

According to Hippocrates, the doctor made an  assessment of the illness and then, he tries, in a gentle way, to eliminate it from the human body. Surgery was there, but not as it is today, it was a choice if non-surgical treatment did not take place.
